Brain and Development
How development, attention, memory, emotion, relationships and present capacity interact with learning.
A NEXIE Productised Service
The future of education begins with understanding at home.
MUMspired is a parent-learning and community-education service that recognises parents and carers as children’s first and continuing educators.
It helps families understand how children communicate, relate, regulate, explore and learn—then translate that understanding into compatible home-learning experiences, playgroups and community learning.
It complements school, early childhood education and registered home education; it does not replace their requirements.

Preparing parents for changing education
Technology, work and community life continue to change. Children will need opportunities to develop curiosity, adaptability, communication, creativity, collaboration, ethical judgement and confidence in learning.
MUMspired helps parents move beyond asking only:
“What should my child be taught?”“Who is this child? What is their unique blueprint? What is influencing their capacity to communicate, relate, regulate, learn and participate?”
The purpose is not to reject schools or established curriculum. It is to help parents understand how their child learns and contribute more meaningfully to learning partnerships.

Parents as first educators
Conversations, play, stories, movement, relationships, creativity, routines, problem-solving, cultural knowledge and shared projects already create powerful learning moments.
MUMspired helps parents recognise these experiences, use them intentionally and connect them with the child’s strengths, interests, needs and developmental journey.
Parents do not need to recreate a classroom at home.NeuroEducation in everyday life
Seven practical lenses help families understand participation without reducing a child to a label or performance.
How development, attention, memory, emotion, relationships and present capacity interact with learning.
How behaviour may communicate stress, uncertainty, sensory needs, disconnection or difficulty understanding expectations.
How safe, responsive relationships can support participation, confidence and learning.
How routines, expectations, movement, sensory experiences, sleep, connection and physical spaces may influence capacity.
How biology and experience interact over time without suggesting parents control gene expression or determine every outcome.
How interests, strengths, current capabilities and preferred ways of engaging can inform learning experiences.
How parents can notice what happened, consider what influenced it and adjust without blame.
SYMBEB and LAMAHS
Paired NEXIE frameworks support better questions and responsive planning.
Consider patterns in communication, motivation, relationships, processing and participation—including learning through reflection, emotional connection, direct experience or changing combinations.
Not diagnoses, fixed personality types or limits on potential.Explore what the child already knows, is learning to understand, is developing, may be ready to acquire and can apply—alongside the relationships and conditions that support engagement.
Responsive planning without reducing education to labels or worksheets. The MUMspired experience
Nine connected stages help families carry observation into learning, participation and reflection.
Explore strengths, interests, communication, relationships, regulation and current learning capacity.
Build a respectful learning partnership where the child can contribute ideas, preferences and questions.
Notice how the child approaches experiences without rushing towards judgement or comparison.
Choose realistic intentions connected to family life, community, curriculum or the child’s interests.
Develop play, projects, conversations and experiences that make learning meaningful.
Use home, nature, community, culture and relationships as places for active learning.
Consider what supported engagement, what created difficulty and what the child demonstrated.
Change the environment, communication, expectation, pace or learning pathway where needed.
Document learning and communicate useful information where appropriate.
Understand → Connect → Observe → Plan → Create → Participate → Reflect → Adjust → Share
What families create
Depending on the selected pathway, families may develop seven practical and reflective resources.
A strengths-based profile of interests, communication, relationships, regulation and preferred ways of engaging.
Everyday routines, places, resources and experiences that can become meaningful learning opportunities.
Questions, projects and experiences developed around curiosity and emerging capabilities.
Practical adjustments to communication, routines, sensory conditions, expectations and learning spaces.
The values, cultural knowledge, relationships and community experiences learning should include.
A reflective record of experiences, progress, questions, challenges and emerging directions.
A CARIE-informed process for examining adult expectations, communication and responses.
These resources support parent learning and planning. They are not formal assessments, diagnoses, school reports or evidence that government curriculum and registration requirements have been met.
Home schooling in NSW
In NSW, a child must reside in NSW and be registered by the NSW Department of Education to be home schooled. The parent takes responsibility for educating their child, primarily in the home.
MUMspired may help families reflect on learning, connect informal experiences with syllabus-based planning, organise resources and document the journey. It is not a government home-schooling program, is not endorsed by the NSW Department of Education and does not replace official guidelines, registration assessment or the parent’s legal responsibilities.
View current NSW information ↗Playgroups and community learning
Community pathways may include parent-learning circles, parent-present playgroups, home-learning cooperatives, shared inquiry projects, nature and cultural experiences, family workshops, resource-sharing circles and facilitated online groups.
A group must not represent itself as a registered school or assume responsibility for compulsory education unless all applicable legal requirements are met. Parents retain responsibility for their child’s education, supervision and participation unless responsibility is formally transferred under an appropriate service model.
Intended outcomes
Outcomes focus on parent understanding, responsive relationships, everyday learning and connected participation.
These are intended educational outcomes, not guaranteed results. MUMspired does not guarantee academic achievement, resilience, leadership, employment, mental health, neurodevelopmental outcomes or future potential.

For parents and carers
MUMspired helps families explore strengths, interests, communication, relationships, regulation, preferred ways of engaging and the home or community conditions influencing participation.
For communities and organisations
MUMspired may support community centres, family organisations, early childhood services, schools, libraries, home-education networks, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, culturally diverse groups, rural communities and place-based initiatives.
Training, employment and enterprise
Potential roles may include Lead or Assistant Facilitators, parent-learning facilitators, home-learning mentors, playgroup facilitators, peer-support workers, community educators, outreach coordinators, supervisors and authorised Neuropreneurs.
For employers and training providers
NEXIE Institute provides the proprietary MUMspired model, learning resources, facilitator preparation, practice requirements, quality framework and applicable licensing pathway.
Where nationally recognised training forms part of a connected pathway, it is delivered and assessed by the relevant approved partner RTO.

Questions and Answers
No. MUMspired can support parents whose children attend early childhood services or schools, as well as families undertaking registered home education. The everyday home-learning pathway complements formal education and does not require withdrawal from school.
No. MUMspired provides parent learning, reflective frameworks and educational resources. In NSW, the registered parent remains responsible for developing and implementing an educational program based on the relevant NSW syllabuses and meeting all registration requirements.
No. MUMspired does not provide genetic or epigenetic testing or decode hidden potential. Epigenetic-informed learning explains that development reflects interaction between biology, relationships, experiences and environments.
No. They are reflective lenses for considering patterns in communication, relationships, motivation and participation. They must not be used to limit opportunities, assign ability or define identity.
Not automatically. Requirements depend on the group, setting, participant needs, supervision, child-safe requirements, insurance, business arrangements and requested use rights.
It may help some parents explore community education, facilitation or enterprise pathways. Paid work depends on capability, qualifications where relevant, available roles, local demand, legal requirements and commercial viability. No employment or income is guaranteed.
MUMspired can respect family meaning, culture, identity and values, but it is not a religious or spiritual treatment program. Cultural or spiritual perspectives may be included where respectful, transparent and appropriate.
