The pathway from understanding to action.

PEDICure Five Pillars

Prevention. Education. Detection. Intervention. Correction.

PEDICure is the five-pillar pathway through which The NEXIE Method moves understanding into action.

Prevention, Education, Detection, Intervention and Correction work as connected areas of developmental practice. They may provide a progressive pathway, but they are not always used as a rigid sequence. People may enter at different points, revisit an earlier pillar or draw on several pillars together.

PEDICure provides a structured way to ask better questions before choosing the next step—so support begins with developmental understanding rather than reaction.

PEDICure Five Pillars from Prevention and Education through Detection, Intervention and Correction

Five Connected Pillars for Developmental Practice

01

Prevention

Build understanding, relationships, developmental conditions and protective capacity before challenges escalate. Prevention focuses on what can be strengthened early: connection, safety, routines, environment, regulation, communication and adult understanding.

02

Education

Make developmental knowledge accessible and practical so people can recognise what shapes learning, behaviour and wellbeing. Education helps parents, educators, practitioners and organisations build a shared language for understanding people, patterns and developmental needs.

03

Detection

Notice patterns and influences across the person, relationships, environment, experiences and current capacity — without rushing to diagnosis. Detection helps people observe what is happening, recognise contributing conditions and understand possible pathways before choosing action.

04

Intervention

Choose purposeful supports that fit the person and the conditions shaping the present moment. Intervention in NEXIE is guided by understanding. It asks what support, adjustment, teaching, relationship repair, resource or environmental change may be most aligned.

05

Correction

Reflect on what changed, repair what needs attention and adjust the approach so practice stays aligned with development. Correction is not punishment. It is the reflective process of learning from action, repairing where needed and refining the pathway forward.

Questions and Answers

Understand the framework
before you begin.

What does PEDICure mean?

PEDICure is the five-pillar pathway of Prevention, Education, Detection, Intervention and Correction.

It organises developmental practice so people can move from early understanding into practical, ethical and aligned action. The pillars are connected and may be revisited as circumstances, capacity and understanding change.

Is PEDICure a clinical intervention model?

No. PEDICure is an educational, reflective and developmental framework. Its Intervention pillar does not automatically mean therapy or clinical treatment.

Intervention may include education, communication support, environmental adjustment, relationship repair, skill development, changes to expectations or another practical response suited to the person and situation.

Where qualified professionals use relevant NEXIE resources within assessment, treatment, therapy or specialist intervention, they remain independently responsible for working within their qualifications, competence, professional scope, registration requirements and legal responsibilities.

Who can use the PEDICure framework?

PEDICure can support individuals, parents and carers, educators, support workers, practitioners, Future Neuropreneurs, schools, RTOs and organisations.

The way it is used depends on the person’s role, purpose and level of access. Someone may use it for personal reflection or education, while a professional may apply relevant learning and resources within the boundaries of their existing role.

Professional, organisational and commercial use of protected NEXIE tools, assessments, reports, plans and Productised Services is governed by the training requirements, use rights and licence conditions attached to the relevant resource or pathway.

How does PEDICure connect to The NEXIE Method?

The NEXIE Method is the overarching proprietary methodology. PEDICure is the five-pillar pathway through which that methodology becomes structured learning, reflection and action.

The Method provides the developmental lens for understanding the person, patterns, relationships, environment, experiences and current capacity. PEDICure helps determine where attention may be needed and how understanding can be carried into an aligned next step.

In simple terms:

The NEXIE Method provides the lens. PEDICure provides the pathway.
What does “Correction” mean in NEXIE?

Correction does not mean punishment, blame, control or forcing a person to conform.

It is the reflective pillar of PEDICure. It asks what changed, what was learned, what may need repair and what should be adjusted before moving forward.

Correction may involve repairing a relationship, revising an interpretation, changing an expectation, improving environmental conditions, adjusting a support strategy or returning to an earlier pillar for greater understanding.

Its purpose is to keep action responsive, ethical and aligned with development.

Purpose. Pathway. Possibility.

Understanding opens the pathway forward.
