ECHOS Parent & Carer Enterprise Opportunity

Turn lived caring experience into connection, capability and meaningful work.

NEXIE Institute is inviting parents and carers to explore a flexible pathway into early connections, parent education and community-based enterprise through ECHOS — Early Connections Hub Outreach Supports.

The pathway begins with what you already know, what matters to you and the type of work that may fit your family, capacity and future direction. You do not need to arrive with a business idea.

ECHOS is a parent-present early-connections and supported-playgroup model that brings developmental play, family learning and connection into accessible community settings.

How to Begin

From interest to an appropriate pathway.

Each step confirms fit before greater responsibility or access is introduced.

01

Explore

Begin with NEXIE X to consider your purpose, capacity, caring experience, interests, preferred way of working and future possibilities.

02

Build Your Business Blueprint

Shape a practical pathway around your audience, opportunity, enterprise model, ethics, boundaries, first offer and intended impact.

03

Learn the ECHOS Service Model

Develop capability in parent-present supported play, family engagement, developmental learning, reflection, inclusion, safeguarding, boundaries and service coordination.

04

Establish a Local Pathway

Identify an appropriate community venue, host organisation or participating provider, beginning with Newcastle and Lake Macquarie where suitable arrangements can be confirmed.

05

Facilitate a First Ten-Week Group

Begin with a manageable group of approximately five participating families under the approved model, safeguards and delivery arrangements.

06

Build What Comes Next

Review fit, feedback and capacity before considering additional groups, further learning, formal study, another NEXIE service or a broader enterprise pathway.

Important Boundaries

Interest is a beginning—not an automatic right.

  • Registering interest is an opportunity to explore fit; it is not an offer of employment, enrolment, funding or licensed delivery.
  • A small cohort may support a micro-enterprise model, but income depends on the approved service model, fees or funding, venue costs, business expenses, participation and delivery volume.
  • NEXIE does not guarantee clients, referrals, income, employment, NDIS funding or eligibility for external employment and enterprise programs.
  • Caring and lived experience are valued but do not replace qualifications, preparation, supervision, safeguards or professional capability where these are required.
  • ECHOS is an independent NEXIE service model and is not represented as an Australian Government Thriving Kids service, an NDIA early childhood partner service or an assurance that NDIS funding can be used.
  • Parent Pathways, Self-Employment Assistance, Workforce Australia, Inclusive Employment Australia and employment-service providers operate under their own eligibility and funding requirements.
  • Protected ECHOS materials and commercial delivery rights are supplied only through the applicable approved pathway and written agreement.
  • The facilitator complements rather than replaces a family's educators, allied-health practitioners or other professional supports.
